Burness Paull helps illuminate Aberdeen during Spectra, Scotland’s Festival of Light

Burness Paull is proud to sponsor Spectra, Scotland’s Festival of Light, which will illuminate Aberdeen from 8 to 11 February 2024 through a series of free artworks and events across the city.

Now in its 10th year, Spectra will once again see some of Aberdeen’s most iconic buildings and locations transformed and glowing with installations, projections and sculptures to engage and inspire audiences of all ages.

Union Terrace Gardens, Marischal College, and Aberdeen Art Gallery will be amongst the venues taking part. Burness Paull’s support will help bring to life the “Butterfly Dream” exhibit at the Art Gallery, a luminously beautiful installation by artist Anne Bennett which will see a flight of hand-cast and neon-flecked butterflies individually fly above the heads of visitors, reminding people of the beauty in nature and the importance of reconnecting with their own surroundings.

Spectra has a strong focus on sustainability, with last year’s festival having been recognised as Outstanding Cultural Event for 2023 at the Aberdeen and Shire Thistle Awards for its inclusive approach, for example providing breakout spaces for those with additional needs, and for the improvements made to reduce its environmental impact. This year organisers and artists will continue to have energy efficiency, environmental impact and inclusivity at the centre of all activity.
