In recognition of Pride Month, on Saturday 15th July 2023 Burness Paull’s BeProud network of LGBT+ colleagues and allies welcomed family and friends to the firm’s Glasgow office for brunch before heading out to take part in Glasgow's Mardi Gla parade.

Pride 1

Partnering with Time for Inclusive Education (TIE), Scotland’s LGBT Inclusive Education charity, attendees heard about the importance of respect & inclusion forming part of the school curriculum in order to tackle homophobic, biphobic, and transphobic bullying and prejudice. Everyone then had a wider discussion about ongoing developments in the diversity and inclusion space and what was happening in their own organisations to ensure inclusive working environments for all.

Following the presentations, brunch and some Pride-themed fun and games with plenty of rainbow props, it was time for everyone to make their way along to Glasgow Green for the start of the parade, which organisers estimate saw around 50,000 people take part.

The brunch and march rounded off Burness Paull’s Pride Month activities, which also included the annual BeProud quiz in each office and attendance at Edinburgh Pride events.

Michael Thomson, partner at Burness Paull and member of the firm’s BeProud committee said: “A big thank you to TIE for joining us for brunch and marching with us at Mardi Gla. At Burness Paull we don’t just focus our respect & inclusion activities around one month of the year, but events like Pride do really help us to try and step beyond our business and be part of a wider community, giving us a chance to have some fun while reinforcing our commitment to ensuring everyone can be their true selves, and be valued for it.”
