Burness Paull has become a member and the first strategic legal partner of Blockchain Scotland, the leading industry association created to drive forward Scotland’s growing blockchain and digital assets ecosystem.
Specialist lawyers from across the firm will provide Blockchain Scotland members with regulatory insight, thought leadership content and practical support on the legal, regulatory and commercial questions that arise as blockchain technology is adopted across both crypto-native and traditional financial services organisations.
The partnership reflects the growing significance of blockchain and distributed ledger technology across Scotland’s financial services, technology and innovation sectors.
Jamie Gray, partner at Burness Paull, said: “The adoption of blockchain technology across financial services and wider industry is creating increasingly complex legal, regulatory and commercial questions.
"As the UK’s digital assets regime develops, it is vital that businesses have access to clear, specialist advice that allows them to understand risk, meet regulatory expectations and pursue innovation responsibly.
"Burness Paull is pleased to join Blockchain Scotland as its first strategic legal partner. We look forward to bringing our experience across financial services regulation, digital assets and commercial law to support Blockchain Scotland’s members and contribute to the continued development of Scotland’s blockchain ecosystem”
Dr Maciej Zurawski, Executive Director at Blockchain Scotland added: “At Blockchain Scotland, we want to empower Scottish innovation through blockchain technology. Connecting entrepreneurs, developers and industry leaders, we focus on the technology itself and those who are building it. I’m delighted to have Burness Paull on board to help our members as our industry evolves. We are very grateful for their support.”
Burness Paull’s financial services regulatory team has established itself as a leading voice in this space, with recent contributions including giving evidence to the Scottish Parliament’s Economy and Fair Work Committee on the Digital Assets (Scotland) Bill, ongoing advisory work for digital asset businesses and service providers exploring tokenised investment structures, and active engagement with industry developments including the FCA’s cryptoassets regime and fund tokenisation proposals.
