Jyoti is a Senior Consultant in our US Immigration practice. She is admitted to practice law in New York and is also qualified in England & Wales and India.
With over two decades of rich experience in US immigration law, Jyoti supports clients in navigating the complex landscape of employer-sponsored visas, particularly H-1B (speciality occupation), L-1 (intracompany transferee), PERM (labour certification) and EB-1 (employment-based immigrant visa) categories.
She also has experience obtaining permanent residency (green card) through employment and family-based sponsorship as well as dealing with adjustment of status and naturalization applications. Jyoti has a proven track record of delivering favourable outcomes for clients across diverse backgrounds, including individuals, families and corporations in various industries such as finance, technology, and executive search.
Prior to joining Burness Paull, Jyoti was Senior Counsel at a boutique US immigration law firm in London for six years. She previously practised law in the United States before relocating to London in 2004 with her family. With a deep understanding of the ever-evolving immigration policies, coupled with her meticulous attention to detail, as well as strong research, and written and oral communication skills, Jyoti provides strategic and practical advice to clients.
Having personally navigated the immigration processes in both the US and UK, Jyoti understands the significance of this journey. She is committed to making it as seamless as possible for individuals and employers, ensuring smooth transitions across borders.
Jyoti holds a Bachelor of Laws, a Bachelor of Commerce, and a Master of Laws from the University of Bombay, as well as a Master of Laws from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan.
She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, American Women Lawyers in London, the New York State Bar Association, and The Law Society of England & Wales.
Fluent in English, Hindi, Gujarati, and Marathi, Jyoti also has reading knowledge of French.
