Hilary is an experienced director with over 20 years of expertise in real estate law, specialising in the clean energy sector. Having served as Knowledge & Development Director (KDL) for our real estate division for seven years, she has now returned to her core specialism—providing legal advice to clients in the renewable energy market.
Hilary has been involved in clean energy real estate since completing her first onshore wind project in 2003. Her extensive experience spans both onshore and offshore wind, as well as small and large scale hydro projects. She has a deep understanding of the full project lifecycle, supporting developers from site optioning through to generation. Additionally, she has expertise in renewable energy M&A and financing.
Throughout her career, Hilary has worked with a diverse range of developers, helping to deliver successful projects with a pragmatic, nimble and solutions-driven approach.
As a KDL her role was crucial in driving knowledge management, regulatory compliance, risk management and stakeholder engagement whilst supporting legal education, product development and process improvements to ensure the divisions remain at the forefront of legal knowledge and practice, passing benefits on to clients across a wide range of transactions.
Hilary sits on a number of key sector groups across the firm including real estate finance, building safety and is a member of the advisory group for the Scottish Law Commission’s Execution of Documents project.
