Catriona is a partner in our energy team specialising in corporate matters, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and complex private equity arrangements. She has extensive experience advising domestic and international clients on high-profile cross-border M&A transactions, and before joining the firm she trained and worked at Clifford Chance in London and Paris.
Catriona has a particular focus on advising clients in the renewable energy sector. She provides tailored and practical advice to help clients navigate often complex transaction processes from inception to completion.
Catriona has recently advised:
- Lanxing New Energy on its investment into Logan Energy
- Maven Capital Partners on its investment in and exit from CB Technology
- Cyan Renewables on the Scots law aspects of its acquisition of MMA Offshore
- Cairngorm Capital Partners on its acquisition of a number of wealth management businesses
- A variety of clients on putting in place management equity and incentivisation arrangements

Catriona is a member of our BeProud committee (Burness Paull’s LGBT+ employee network) and leads our China Desk. She is a proficient Mandarin speaker, having lived and worked in both China and Japan, and holds a Masters degree in East Asian studies. Drawing on this experience and her work with Chinese clients, Catriona has a keen understanding of the particular issues and considerations which affect both companies based in that part of the world, and those wishing to do business with them.
