Burness Paull has joined up with the Traverse Theatre to bring the experiences of some of Street Soccer’s women’s team to life in a groundbreaking new play “Same Team – The Street Soccer Story”.

The project is a unique collaboration between the three organisations, bringing together sport, the arts and business for social change.

A group of women who attend Street Soccer’s Change Centre in Dundee worked with playwrights Jack Gordon and Robbie Nurse to create the characters and stories for the production, taking part in creative writing workshops to combine their own journeys and reflections. The result is an amazingly uplifting and inspirational play, with a lot of heart and humour.

The play charts the journey of five Street Soccer women with very different backgrounds as they come together to form Team Scotland, heading to the Homeless World Cup in Milan. They each have to overcome their own challenges and work together if they want to bring home the trophy, and on the way discover the true meaning of Street Soccer’s motto #SameTeam.

“Same Team- The Street Soccer Story” will run throughout December at the Traverse, Edinburgh, and there are ambitions to take it to the Edinburgh Festival in 2024 and then on UK and international tours, taking Street Soccer to new audiences and creating a legacy for the future.
