Jamie Gray

Jamie is a partner in the firm’s Financial Services Regulatory team.

Jamie specialises in financial services regulatory advice and counsels banks, investment firms, corporate finance and private equity houses, technology companies, platforms and trading facilities, payment services providers and e-money institutions in relation to a wide range of domestic and cross-border regulatory matters.

Having worked in the City of London, Jamie has built up significant experience of advising international clients on regulatory risk management. He has particular expertise in the FCA’s conduct of business rules, regulatory change implementation (IFPR, AIFMD, MiFID, PSD, EMD, AMLD), group structures and reorganisations, prudential requirements, outsourcing, custody, client money and safeguarding as well as the regulatory aspects of acquisitions and disposals.

He also has extensive knowledge and experience in fintech, payments and crypto assets, including a spell on secondment to a UK bank. Jamie is well-versed in the design and distribution of innovative financial products, tokenised clearing and settlement systems, and digital platforms.

He also advises on significant cross-cutting initiatives that affect financial services, including anti-money laundering and ESG. For example, he recently advised a company specialising in sustainable development that rewards ecological awareness. He also helped a global wealth management platform implement an innovative ESG investment tool for the world’s leading financial institutions.

Jamie’s breadth of understanding across multiple sectors makes him well positioned to provide cohesive and practical advice on topics relevant to a variety of financial services sector organisations.

Jamie is qualified as a solicitor in England. He originally trained with Paul Hastings in London, and then worked for Norton Rose Fulbright and EY, before returning to Scotland in 2019.
