John is in our Banking & Finance team and has been a partner at the firm for over 20 years. 

His principal practice areas comprise UK and cross-border corporate finance transactions for lenders and borrowers, upstream oil & gas project finance, refinancing and restructures and property finance. John also works with oilfield services and ongoing energy transition clients on their financing requirements. 

John’s clients include Serica Energy, Neo Energy, Ithaca Energy and Elemental Energies. He has recently acted for Serica in relation to its USD525m RBL facility and for Elemental in its funding arrangements with Ardner Archer in connection with a joint venture. 

John is highly experienced and commercially driven, motivated to conclude transactions with as little fuss as possible, while ensuring impeccable execution. 

John is also chair of the firm’s conflicts committee and works closely with the banking team’s knowledge & development lawyers on precedents and legal updates. 

John is an excellent technical lawyer, but also is pragmatic and is able to get the deal done.
