One of Scotland’s top renewables lawyers has joined Burness Paull LLP as a director in the firm’s property team.
With over 20 years’ experience advising developers, landowners, funders and investors in the clean energy market, Nicky Pascoe is acknowledged as an expert in her field.
She has worked on onshore wind, hydro, solar and energy from waste projects, helping clients to deliver successful developments from first concept and throughout the entire life cycle.
In addition to her experience in green energy, Nicky has a particular specialism in dealing with complex and bespoke property matters having been involved in some of the first commercial onshore windfarms in Scotland.
Commenting on her new role, Nicky said it is an exciting time for the industry as it rises to meet the challenge of post-subsidy development alongside delivering ambitious but necessary targets to reduce carbon emissions and combat climate change.
“I have always been enthusiastic about the renewables sector, supporting clients whose innovation, commitment and passion have made Scotland a world leader in renewable energy, along with delivering significant contributions to Scotland’s economy and particularly its rural communities.”
She added, “I’m looking forward to being part of a major multi-disciplinary team whose expertise is renowned within the industry. I know that the firm will support and challenge me to further fulfil my own potential while continuing to deliver world-class advice to clients.”
Tamar Tammes, managing partner at Burness Paull, said that bolstering the firm’s market-leading renewables practice with another specialist is strategically important as the sector moves into a new phase of project life-extension and repowering.
“The industry continues to evolve and it’s important that our offering does the same. Nicky’s arrival will help to ensure that both our Scottish and international clients continue to receive the best possible support as they seek to capitalise on the opportunities emerging from the introduction of new legislation and new technology.”
