Our "Junior Energy In-House Lawyers Webinar Series" is an online learning programme for junior in-house lawyers looking to increase their knowledge and skills around the different stages of an energy project lifecycle.

The ten-module programme will be delivered throughout 2025 by specialists from across our energy team. Each session will last 30 minutes from 11:00 – 11:30am.

Session 1 - An overview of the current legal trends in renewable energy projects

Olivia Smith, Marianne Wilson, Jemma Hughes, Jordan Galbraith and Rory Henretty provide an overview of recent legal trends in the renewable energy sector, considering the different stages of a project lifecycle.

Session 2 - Frequent Property Pitfalls in Renewable Energy Projects

Olivia Smith, Marianne Wilson and Paul Manolache provide an overview of some frequent property pitfalls that developers should be aware of in relation to Scottish renewable energy projects.

Session 3 - Current Issues in Energy Consenting

Jemma Hughes and Hazel Noble provide an overview of the consenting regime and recent updates.

 

Session 4 - National Security and Investment Act 2021

Jennifer Rae, Emily Couchlin and Robbie Anderson provide an overview of the impact of the Act on renewable energy transactions, including information on when is a notification required and considering voluntary notifications.

 

Session 5 - Joint Ventures / Corporate Structures in the Renewable Energy Sector

Rory Henretty, Sarah Milne and Ellé Chenery provide an overview of corporate vs commercial joint ventures and choosing the most appropriate structure.

 

Session 6 - Agricultural and crofting considerations for energy projects (inc drafting for Natural Capital Benefits)

Marianne Wilson and Lorna McKay provide an overview of the key agricultural and crofting considerations for renewable energy projects in Scotland.

 

Session 7 - Deal / Consideration Structures in a Renewable Energy Transaction

Rory Henretty, Emily Couchlin and Robbie Anderson provide an overview of deal and consideration structures in a renewable energy transaction, including simultaneous vs non-simultaneous signing and completion and deferred consideration mechanisms (how they work and implications for your transaction).
