Susan is an associate in our Private Client division. Susan brings to her role a wealth of knowledge and experience having studied law in Scotland, France and Canada and practised as a barrister and solicitor in British Columbia, Canada advising clients on both contentious and non-contentious private client, family and corporate matters, and appearing, where the case required it, in all levels of British Columbia court.

Since returning to Scotland, Susan has focused her attention on providing personal, family and business succession planning advice, including drafting wills and powers of attorney; creating, administering, and winding up trusts; advising on asset protection, inheritance tax mitigation, legal rights and partnership agreements; and administering testate and intestate executries, including applications for confirmation. Through working closely with colleagues in the Rural Business team, Susan has developed specific expertise advising clients within the rural and agricultural sectors, including farmers, partnerships and owner-managed businesses. As a result of her international studies and work experience, Susan also has a particular interest in cross-border and multi-jurisdictional estate planning and estate administration matters.

Susan is an Associate member of the Society for Trust and Estate Practitioners (“STEP”) and is working towards completing her STEP Diploma, having already completed the Advanced Certificate in Wills and Executries: Law and Practice (Scotland) and the Advanced Certificate in Cross-Border Estates.
