Hazel is head of our Public Law and Regulatory team and also heads up our Cyber practice. She has represented clients including the Scottish, UK and EU Governments, regulatory bodies across the health, education, information and utilities sectors as well as many high profile Scottish, UK and international businesses on matters ranging from judicial review, contentious procurement, regulatory investigations, and public inquiries to cyber-attacks and data breaches, governance and board matters and legislative drafting. She previously advised the UK Information Office and has advised clients impacted by cyber-attacks in Scotland and the UK.
Hazel has been included in the Legal 500’s Hall of Fame for public sector, parliamentary and public affairs work and is described as “highly experienced” whilst Chambers Legal Directory describes her as a “very good public lawyer with real expertise in the area”. She is also ranked for Administrative Law in the Global Best Lawyers Directory 2020.
Hazel was a non-Executive Director of the Scottish Chambers of Commerce and a member of the First Minister’s National Advisory Council for Women and Girls Circle. She has won awards for her Services to Law in the 2018 and 2019 Women’s Law Awards of Scotland and was recognised as a Woman to Watch at the Scottish Women of Influence Awards 2019. Hazel was also listed as one of the ‘20 Women to Watch in Scotland in 2018’ by Business Insider
