Homeless World Cup Draw Is Made!

Team Scotland have been drawn in Group B of the Women’s Homeless World and will face Wales, Holland, Norway, Kyrgyzstan, Ivory Coast, USA and Kenya in the tournaments’ opening section.

Meanwhile the men’s team will compete in Group A of the Homeless World Cup where they will meet Bosnia and Herzegovina, Norway, Hong Kong, Grenada and Egypt.

As host nation the draw means Scotland will play host to Hong Kong in the centrepiece opening game of the tournament, to be held before a capacity crowd at Glasgow’s George Square. Team Scotland will be seeking a record-breaking third Homeless World Cup title on home soil.

The live draw was made at Glasgow City Hall by Scotland national team managers Anna Signeul and Gordon Strachan, alongside former Team Scotland Homeless World Cup players Robert Hare, Liam Ney and Catherine McGoldrick.

Ally Dawson, manager of Team Scotland’s Homeless World Cup team said: “It’s a good draw for both of our teams with the groups featuring some familiar and not so familiar opposition."

As ever, it’s exciting when the draw for the tournament arrives as it means the big event is not too far away."

All the players are working hard and raring to go. They are absolutely determined to do Scotland proud!

David Morgan, partner at Burness Paull said: “Now that the groups have been announced for the Homeless World Cup, the countdown really begins to what I’m sure will be a fantastic tournament for all involved. Burness Paull are delighted to sponsor Team Scotland, and we are all looking forward to cheering on our home nation in July.
