Burness Paull Head of Technology Wins Tech Sector Leadership Award

Burness Paull Head of Technology Callum Sinclair has won the Leadership Award at the ScotlandIS Digital Technology Awards 2018. The event took place at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Glasgow on Thursday 26 April.

ScotlandIS is the trade body for Scotland’s digital technologies industry, and the Digital Technology Awards were created to showcase excellence within the industry, rewarding innovation, expertise and ambition. This is the first time a law firm has been recognised in the Awards.

Callum has a life-long passion for technology and almost 20 years’ experience providing technology and commercial contracts advice to some of the world’s largest technology businesses and buyers of ICT, as well as spin out and emerging tech. He’s also a major player in fintech in Scotland. Callum joined Burness Paull in 2016 and not only leads the firm’s technology division, but also acts at a driving force behind the firm’s broader technology agenda. In the last year Callum’s team has seen revenue increase by 25% and acted as strategic lead advisors on key enterprise cloud, IT sourcing, privacy and data protection, and mobile / broadband projects for clients.

Callum said: “I would like to thank ScotlandIS and the judges for this recognition. It is a real testament to what we believe across Burness Paull, that every business is a tech business in some shape or form, and that we are no different. Across all of our practice areas and sector groups, we are horizon scanning with clients about the impact of technology on their businesses, and are immersed in the tech community through our work on a day-to-day basis. It has been really exciting and rewarding to lead on Burness Paull’s tech offering, and I’d like to thank both our fantastic team and of course our clients for their support as we drive forward our ambitious tech strategy.”

Callum also features in The Lawyer UK Hot 100 2018 list as a "disruptor", and in The Times’ 2016 Digital List of 100 people from Scotland’s digital technologies industry who are “changing the world”.  He is a published co-author of “Outsourcing” (2015, Globe Law & Business), and sits on the Law Society of Scotland Technology Committee.
