A Reminder About Our Data Protection in 2016 Survey

A Reminder About Our Data Protection in 2016 Survey

Following our Data Protection Lunch and Learn Seminars that we recently held across Scotland, we have compiled a survey to assess how ready organisations are for the new General Data Protection Regulation.

We’ve had a great response to the survey in such a short space of time so thank you to everyone who has taken part! For those of you who still wish to respond, our Data Protection in 2016 Survey is open until 8 June and we would love to hear from you.

So far, participants have confirmed what they anticipate will be the biggest problems in terms of data protection compliance in the next year. Areas which have been identified as challenging in the new regime include:

  • educating staff;
  • the complexities of dealing with subject access requests given responses will need to be quicker;
  • outsourcing of services to third parties; and
  • understanding how to handle data security breaches.

It is worth mentioning that the ICO has prepared a microsite where it will post updates and guidance in relation to upcoming changes in preparation for the Regulation coming into force in May 2018.

Of course we will continue to blog on any developments to keep you up-to-date!
