The recent announcement of the specific projects supported by City Deal which are to be taken forward in Glasgow has demonstrated the value of accessing a new funding approach - allowing the city to continue to raise its game in an environment where capital funding for public infrastructure remains very tight.  That is certainly something to be welcomed - but the benefits go deeper than that, grounded in the fundamental principles of the City Deal model itself.

Making Innovation and Collaboration Work

Burness Paull is pleased to be partnering with Ernst & Young, RGU and Douglas-Westwood in a groundbreaking global oil & gas sector research initiative ‘Energy 2050 – Securing Our Future’, led by Energy Voice. The initiative launched in April, will run until September 2015 and will identify trends, influencing factors and risks to ensure the future of the Oil and Gas industry. The second phase of the research project ‘Technological change in the industry’ is now underway.

ICO Scotland Conference 2015

Earlier this week I had the pleasure of speaking as a guest at the ICO Scotland conference for 2015. The event was a great opportunity to reflect on everything that has happened in the space of a year, and to take stock of some of the key developments in this fast moving area. Deputy ICO David Smith’s keynote speech summed up very nicely the current thinking from the ICO, straight off the back of the ICO’s hosting of the European Conference of Data Protection Authorities.
