If the flow of investment dries up, then with no new fields being developed or oil pumped, we’ll be on the road to premature decommissioning of UKCS infrastructure and at an unhappy turning point in the story of the North Sea. Depressing for those involved in the industry, but a severe blow to the UK’s economy and to the UK’s ambition of security of supply.
