To Budget Or Not To Budget? (That May Be The Question)

"To budget or not to budget?" is the question that large numbers of individuals above the age of 55 will have to ask themselves, following yesterday's surprise announcement by the Chancellor. He intends to remove the requirement for individuals to use their Defined Contribution (DC) pension pot to purchase an annuity or use income drawdown at retirement.  As a result DC pension scheme members will be able to take all of their benefits as a cash lump sum.

What’s IT Got To Do With Oil & Gas?

So far as I’m aware, it was the first event of its kind in recent years in Aberdeen where IT players like HP, Dell, IFB and Microstrategy were brought together with oil and gas operators and service companies such as TAQA and Baker Hughes.

Land And Buildings Transaction Tax - What Will This Mean?

From 1 April 2015, Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) will effectively no longer apply in Scotland. The Scottish Government is replacing SDLT with Land and Buildings Transaction Tax (LBTT), and this will come into force irrespective of the result of 2014’s referendum on Scottish independence. This tax will be administered by Revenue Scotland, a new Scottish tax authority, as opposed to HMRC.
