Offshore Europe 2013. Reflections

Last week saw Offshore Europe burst into Aberdeen.  A biennial event, showcasing the latest technologies in the oil & gas industry and underlining Aberdeen’s status as one of the World Energy Cities.

On Wednesday night, Burness Paull hosted a party to share in the city’s success.  Conversations resonating around the room had a common theme.  Aberdeen has its challenges but there is huge optimism and the city’s contribution to the economy is impressive.

Update on TUPE Reform: Much Ado About Nothing

The Government has now published its eagerly anticipated (by me anyway!) response to its consultation on reform of the TUPE regulations.  It now proposes a number of specific reforms intended to remove the “unfair legal risks that businesses currently face” when involved in a TUPE transfer.  But, most notably, the Government has pulled back from repealing in their entirety the existing provisions with regard to “service provision changes”, as discussed in my last TUPE blog (http://bit.ly/1dVmITe).
