Modern Slavery Act Transparency Statement

This statement is made for and on behalf of Burness Paull LLP pursuant to Section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 (the “Act”) and constitutes our Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement (“Statement”) for the financial year ending 31 July 2016.

Burness Paull LLP is a limited liability partnership registered in Scotland (SO300380). It provides corporate legal services globally and is regulated by the Law Society of Scotland. Adhering to the highest ethical and professional standards is one of our guiding principles. We are committed to preventing slavery or human trafficking in any aspect of our business or supply chain. We have undertaken an assessment of the risks of slavery or human trafficking and reviewed our existing business policies and procedures to ensure that the preventive measures are appropriate and proportionate to the level of risk.

Our Recruitment and Selection policy requires all potential employees to provide evidence of entitlement to work in the UK and we are an accredited Living Wage Employer with the Scottish Living Wage Accreditation Initiative and the Living Wage Foundation (http://scottishlivingwage.org/).

Our third party supply chain includes providers of office supplies, security personnel, catering and cleaning services as well as businesses which supply us with IT systems and support. We require suppliers to be compliant with the Act and hold regular review meetings with them to monitor and audit performance. We require our suppliers to pay the National Living Wage.
